Teaching staff play a key role in supporting students experiencing psychological distress. Not only does their frequent and direct contact with them enable them to witness the distress, but some students may also confide in them because of their role as role models and support figures. By adopting a caring and open attitude, teaching staff can encourage students to talk about their difficulties and ask for help.

This tool provides guidelines for recognising signs of psychological distress in students, supporting them and directing them to the appropriate resources. Station SME tools for teaching staff are also provided.

The information presented in this tool is taken from the Formation : Interagir avec une personne qui semble en détresse psychologique developed by Université TÉLUQ.
