Raising awareness of suicide prevention means implementing measures to help the community better understand the problem of suicide and how to prevent it. The importance of focusing on suicide prevention is based on statistical data revealing that the student population in higher education is particularly at risk. Encouraging dialogue to better understand the problem of suicide, daring to talk about it in higher education circles and shattering the myths surrounding suicide are all ways of taking preventive action.

Section 3.5 of the Department of Higher Education’s Action Plan on Student Mental Health in Higher Education supports institutions in implementing preventive measures to reduce the risk of suicide.
