Jack.org’s Campus Assessment Tool (CAT) is designed to help students assess their post-secondary institution’s mental health support. It provides a structured framework for identifying institutional strengths and gaps, and the opportunity to use these results to advocate for better resources and policies.
The tool is based on five main principles:
- Culture and awareness: Is mental health openly discussed at this facility? Are there campaigns to reduce stigma?
- Accessibility to services: Are support services easily accessible and adapted to students’ needs?
- Training and skills development: Are students, teachers and other staff trained to recognize and respond to mental health issues?
- Policies and governance: Are there clear, effective policies to promote the well-being of the student population?
- Commitment and inclusion: Is the diversity of student profiles and experiences taken into account in mental health initiatives?
Jack.org offers support in this process, providing resources and strategies for transforming observations and results into effective action.
