A number of higher education establishments have set up zootherapy activities during which dogs are present on campus for a few hours. Students can get in touch with them to give them dog treats, pet them, take their picture, and so on. It is recognised that this type of intervention reduces stress and is a source of comfort.
They may be present on a one-off basis or regularly scheduled as part of the school’s activities. In addition, this provides an opportunity for presenters to connect with students and promote their services. Here are a few institutions that have implemented this type of initiative:
- CEGEP Champlain – St. Lawrence
- Cégep de l’Outaouais
- Cegep de La Pocatière
- Cégep de Lévis
- Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup
- Cégep de Thetford (avec chien Mira)
- Collège Ahuntsic
- Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf
- Collège de Bois-de-Boulogne
- Collège Montmorency
- Cégep de Trois-Rivières
- Cégep de Valleyfield
- HEC Montréal
- Université du Québec à Rimouski
- McGill University
