The knowledge synthesis Les violences à caractère sexuel en contexte de consommation d’alcool : les effets de programmes de prévention en milieux collégiaux et universitaires identifies VACS prevention programs with an alcohol component in higher education settings (which have been evaluated for their effects) and draws conclusions regarding the implementation of these programs and their effects.
Four findings are raised by this research :
1- Programs combining themes related to alcohol and sexual violence would have more promising effects in preventing victimization than those addressing only one of the two themes.
2- Programs aimed at specific populations would have an impact on the perpetration or victimization factors associated with their reality.
3- The involvement and training of student peers is a key factor in program implementation.
4- Training informed and active bystanders would have promising effects in preventing sexual violence in the context of alcohol consumption.
