Several schools have developed awareness campaigns on their campuses. Here are just a few examples:
Mieux vivre mon stress – 10 stratégies en 10 jours
Université du Québec à Montréal
In 2018, the Mieux vivre mon stress: 10 stratégies en 10 jours campaign from the UQAM Advisory Services team invited students to use 10 strategies to tame their stress. Each strategy has been described and accompanied by an action that can be applied on a daily basis. A video and a web page helped promote the initiative among students. Here are the strategies and actions associated with the Mieux vivre mon stress: 10 stratégies en 10 jours campaign.
T’es pas seul.e à vivre ça
Université du Québec en Outaouais
The T’es pas seul.e à vivre ça! campaign was launched in April 2021 on the social networks of the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), via a web page that also lists the psychosocial services offered. As part of the campaign, UQO also produced a series of 4 videos to raise awareness of mental health issues. Topics include anxiety, performance anxiety, isolation, depressive symptoms and wellness solutions.
Over time, various initiatives have been added to the T’es pas seul.e à vivre ça web page, making it a focal point for student mental health issues at UQO. Other videos have been added to the content offered to raise awareness among the student community of the importance of taking care of one’s health as a whole.
Tout le monde a des bas
Université de Montréal
The aim of the Université de Montréal’s Tout le monde a des bas awareness campaign is to contribute to the development of a culture of caring on campus. Its main features are a website with tips and tricks, testimonials, videos, articles on the myths and realities associated with mental health, and help and emergency numbers.
The symbol of blue “stockings” was put forward in the visual conceptualization of this campaign, as it is a unifying and standardizing symbol. Everyone wears stockings on a daily basis, just as everyone experiences stockings.
Messages relayed on social media and posters displayed on campuses (accompanied by codes QR linking to the website) are also part of the communication strategy for this awareness campaign.
Caring community awareness campaign
Université du Québec à Montréal
This campaign to raise awareness of the need for a caring community was launched during the pandemic in order to support the student population in the difficulties they were facing and to promote caring attitudes. The campaign is also associated with the launch of a number of initiatives, including peer support and psychological first aid training course. A series of messages of kindness, encouragement and solidarity were also broadcast throughout the quarter on social networks: Facebook pages, Twitter and Instagram accounts of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Here is an awareness-raising video produced in connection with this campaign, which was shown on giant screens in the various pavilions and on the UQAM website.
Campaign to raise awareness of mental health
Université de Calgary
The University of Calgary has set up a mental health awareness campaign whose messages are communicated mainly through posters, promotional material and videos distributed on campus, with the aim of showing the university community that it is not alone, that help is available and that it is resilient.
