A photographic mosaic project was developed at Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to help raise awareness of mental health issues among students. The project was supported by the Visual Arts Department, in collaboration with the cegep’s psychosocial support service.
To this end, students in the photography course created photographic works (photo series) on various themes associated with mental health, such as isolation, addiction, identity, depression and eating disorders. They were able to present their work at a vernissage, which was also an opportunity for some of them to stand out by winning one of the three Coup de cœur du jury prizes offered by the cegep foundation.
