This synthesis article presents the partial results of a study in which focus groups and individual interviews were conducted with four student-mothers and two employees of a participating CEGEP.
In response to the question ” What influences the study-family-employment relationship? “, the following points emerged :
- The importance of social networking
- The pressure of being a mother and a student
- Children’s ages
- School requirements
- Affordability
- The effects of the pandemic
Mr. Mercier also stresses the importance of institutional support for the study-family-work nexus, and the relevance of a government policy to this effect, so that institutional strategies are more numerous in higher education establishments.
