Several Quebec initiatives have been implemented to document the state of mental health in the student population on a large scale.
- Enquête nationale québécoise sur la santé mentale étudiante en enseignement supérieur et ses déterminants : Temps pour toi : In the fall of 2024, the Observatoire sur la santé mentale étudiante en enseignement supérieur (OSMÉES) conducted a survey as part of the 2016–2021 Student Mental Health Action Plan. A total of 77 higher education institutions and 32,212 students participated.
- Sous ta façade: In 2018, the Union étudiante du Québec (UEQ) conducted a survey on student mental healthtitled “Sous ta façade.” Nearly 24,000 members of the university student community across Quebec participated, representing 14 universities and 20 student associations.
- Derrière ton écran: The survey was conducted in the fall of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, by the Fédération étudiante collégiale du Québec. A 70-question questionnaire gathered information on the experiences of 6,215 students across a range of topics: financial insecurity, mental health, measures to support student success, remote learning arrangements, internship conditions, and the realities faced by international students.
- Adaptation psychologique et adaptation aux études à distance des étudiant.es collégiaux face à la crise de la COVID-19: This research was carried out by Écobes to the college population in the context of the global pandemic. The student community was asked about the state of their mental health during confinement and their adaptation to distance learning.
- Rapport du sondage bien-être 2022: The Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ) represents medical students from Quebec’s four medical associations (Laval University, McGill, Montreal, and Sherbrooke). In the spring of 2022, it undertook a survey to assess the well-being of its members in order to address their various concerns with concrete solutions. A total of 764 students responded to this 45-question survey.
