The Bureau des étudiant.es de première année (BEPA) is an easily identifiable space, located in a busy part of the college, where students can stop to get an answer to a need or question in real time. If the need can be met quickly, an orthopedagogue and a special education technician are available without making an appointment or waiting. Here are a few examples of our services.
- Referral to College resources (depending on needs expressed): educational assistance, SAIDE, financial assistance, psychosocial assistance, help centers, guidance, academic and professional information, student life activities, teachers, etc.
- Academic support and workshops: learning strategies, study organization tools, time management, memorization, note-taking, exam preparation, stress management, teamwork, personalized study plan, etc.
- Information on policies, guidelines, regulations, college-specific words and abbreviations, etc.
- Support for students with difficulties who are not yet accompanied by College staff or services.
However, if people require psychosocial follow-up, they are referred to the appropriate resources. This initiative is inspired by a similar model at Dawson College, and more information is available in this article.
