The “Aventure Vert Soi” program at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi is a research and intervention initiative aimed at supporting students’ mental health by providing them with practical tools to better manage stress, anxiety, and certain symptoms of depression.

The program is based on a nature-based and adventure-based intervention (NAI) approach. Participants experience four strategies recognized for promoting psychological well-being:

  • contact with nature
  • physical activity
  • peer support
  • mindfulness

The program includes four preparatory group sessions and one individual session, followed by a three-day outdoor expedition and a celebratory gathering.

Developed through a collaboration between a research team and UQAC’s Student Services, the program aims to expand mental health support services by offering an experiential and preventive framework that promotes independence, well-being, and the formation of social connections.
