This study explores the impact of teacher support in the adoption of practices that improve the well-being of the student population. These practices concern three aspects of teaching.
- Pedagogical activities (e.g. keeping cell phones away from activities, taking breaks, allowing students to move around the classroom, etc.).
- The teaching staff’s approach (e.g. handing out material in advance, giving feedback, showing interest in students, etc.).
- Course logistics (e.g. allowing choices in evaluations, balancing the weighting of evaluations, taking time into account when completing an evaluation, etc.).
The results showed that:
- 70% of students agreed that the kit’s interventions had supported their well-being, helped them with attention and engagement in class, motivated them to learn and helped them build relationships with teaching staff.
- 50% of students say that these interventions have created a sense of community in the classroom.
- faculty are more inclined to adopt such interventions with direct support from the establishment.
