In the spring of 2023, researchers from the Laboratoire vivant sur la santé mentale en milieu universitaire and the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) inaugurated the Village Relais, comprising three temporary outdoor spaces where students can go to rest. Inspired by fishing villages, each cabin features a theme associated with well-being.
- The “Relaxer: se détendre” cabin features sofas, yoga mats and massage cushions.
- In the “Créer: s’activer” hut, you can take part in gardening activities to prepare seedlings, collective art or craft projects.
- In the “S’amuser: se défouler” cabine, you can draw, use a nail bar and blow bubbles.
In addition to the benefits associated with relaxation, this initiative, born of a consultation with the university population, aims to create social links to break isolation. To build the cabins in a low-cost, environmentally-friendly way, containers already owned by UQAC were used.
