The National Standard of Canada for Mental-Health and Well-Being for Post-Secondary Students is a set of flexible, voluntary guidelines designed to help post-secondary institutions support the mental health and well-being of the student population. It has the following objectives:

  • Raising awareness of mental health and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness
  • Providing healthier and safer teaching environments
  • Improving students’ chances of success and personal development
  • Promoting students’ life skills and resilience in their studies, at work and in their daily lives

Tools have been developed to guide establishments in implementing the Standard.

The Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health has prepared a toolkit to help understand the various components of the Standard and support its implementation.
