The Guide: Stimuler les liens sociaux favorables à la santé mentale étudiante from Observatoire sur la santé mentale étudiante en enseignement supérieur (OSMÉES) is intended for those responsible for implementing the Plan d’action sur la santé mentale étudiante en enseignement supérieur (PASME) 2021-2026 and for the various stakeholders who work in collaboration and complementarity with PASME officials to promote student mental health. The aim of the guide is to raise awareness of the importance of fostering social ties conducive to mental health on campus, and to inspire the implementation of practices that are informed by research findings and experiential knowledge.
The first section of the guide presents seven groups of practices for stimulating social ties:
- Supporting the transition
- Supporting the development of socio-emotional skills
- Integrating social links into teaching practices
- Fostering a sense of belonging and commitment
- Encouraging peer support
- Promoting a social safety net on campus
- Créer des liens sociaux par le biais des services de soutien psychologique.
A second section offers tools and additional information on the subject of social ties to support the thinking of establishments wishing to implement practices or improve those already in place:
