Nightline France is an initiative by and for students aimed at improving individual and collective mental health in educational environments. Their many actions contribute to the democratization and destigmatization of mental health. These include a helpline, a life kit and a survey on student mental health.
Nightline: a student-run night listening service
The Nightline helplines are available to students free of charge in several regions of France. The service is independent, and many institutions offer it to their student populations. The telephone and chat services are available every evening from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with the exception of summer vacations, and are staffed by students trained in active listening and caring.
Fisrt aid kit: a toolkit for students
This toolkit is designed to help young people take care of themselves, pay attention to their mental health and learn how to support their loved ones in need. By appealing to their emotions, thoughts and behaviours, the life kit can help students achieve a sense of well-being.
Student Mental Health in Europe: a groundbreaking report from Nightline Europe
Nightline has carried out an extensive study based on 15,000 calls and/or chats recorded in the nine months of the 2023-2024 academic year across the network’s 29 member Nightlines in five countries (Germany, Austria, France, Ireland, and the UK). The results reveal that 40% of students in the European Union are experiencing difficulties related to their well-being or mental health, and that one in five students is affected by a mental health problem.
